How AI marking works
AI marking uses a Large Language Model (LLM) powered by OpenAI to evaluate your written response against the question and any available mark scheme. It is available on written and extended-answer questions in both Community Questions and Practice Papers. Pages that support AI marking are clearly labelled in the app. To use AI marking:- Answer a written question in the community questions or practice papers section.
- Click Submit for AI marking.
- Your answer is sent for evaluation and feedback appears instantly.
Your answer is sent to OpenAI for processing. No personally identifiable information is included in what is sent. If you prefer not to use OpenAI, you can skip AI marking entirely — features that use it are clearly marked throughout the app, and all other tools remain fully available to you.
Credits
Your daily credit allowance depends on your plan:| Plan | Daily credits |
|---|---|
| Basic | 10 credits/day |
| Pro | 50 credits/day |
| Ultimate | Unlimited* |
* Unlimited credits on the Ultimate plan are subject to high fair-use limits. These limits are set generously for normal revision use, but very high volumes of submissions in a short period may be rate-limited to protect service quality for all users.
Bonus credits and top-ups
You can increase your credit balance in two ways:- Contribute questions — earn bonus credits each time another student answers a question you’ve submitted. See community questions for how to contribute.
- Buy a top-up pack — purchase additional credits from the plans page at any time, on any plan.
Limitations
Keep the following in mind when using AI marking:- AI marking is a study aid, not an official examiner’s assessment.
- Feedback quality depends on the question and the clarity of your answer — it is not guaranteed to match what a real examiner would award.
- Do not rely solely on AI feedback when preparing for exams. Use it alongside official mark schemes, past papers, and teacher feedback.
